Quote of the Day

"She told me to keep reading- that books were mirrors, reflective in sometimes unpredictable ways."
               - I Know This Much is True By: Wally Lamb

I have a habit of reading books and if a certain sentence, phrase, or even a paragraph stands out to me I will immediately write it down.  Latter on I transfer all of the quotes I have extracted from my books and re-write them into my own book..... my book of quotes.  No one suggested this to me.  One day I was reading a book and a sentence shot out at me.  This sentence was so profound to me that I ended up reading it again and again.  After about the third time of reading this profound sentence I decided to write it down so I wouldn't forget, which ultimately lead to my book of quotes.  To this day I pull quotes out of all of my books, vary rarely do I read an entire book without coming across some kind of quote.  These quotes I have come to accumulate have come in vary handy.  While I may be talking to a friend about stress in their life my mind will pick out a quote and use it to assist my friend, kind of like a proverb.  The only reason I can pull these quotes out of books and apply them to real life scenarios is because...like the above quote says....books are mirrors that reflect in sometimes unpredictable ways.  There are more to books than just a story, or a thing of entertainment books are a way of learning, growing, and functioning with the world around us.  Who knows you could even be surprised like me when sometimes I pick up a book and don't really look what it's about I just read it.....then partway through it I realize that this book I just happened to pick up has somehow touched a struggle I am currently having.  Books are amazing.....do not think that because it is a book that it would make you nerdy to read or contemplate.....books are the legacy and history of the human race and should be cherished, loved, and contemplated on.  Pick up a book sometime and you may be surprised at the epiphanies you encounter.
